People always ask me how I got started designing and creating my own line of jewelry. I tell them, "It must be in the genes!"
My great grandfather, Allan H. Davis, a true Pioneer, probably started this jeweler-gene in our family. After moving his family out West, he became one of the founding fathers of Red Lodge, Montana. Soon he opened the first Jeweler & Optician shop on Main Street (he also served as the town's Postmaster.) This gene has passed through the generations down to me... as far back as I can remember I have been drawn to unusual rocks and gemstones.
I began designing my own pieces in 1994, and set my first gemstone that Christmas. It was a 10pt diamond in a 14Kt gold floating heart setting; a friend commissioned it for his wife to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. That marked the first time I really thought of myself as a Jeweler.
Since then I have done countless juried and non-juried Art Shows, Fairs, Christmas Bazaars, Town Festivals, and Home Parties. My work is shown in Museums and Galleries around my home state, Florida. I have been on an Art Show hiatus for the last decade (doin' the Mommy thing! LOL!!!) and am looking forward to getting back out there this fall.
On a more personal note - my other 'loves' (besides jewelry) are spending time with my family, raising our precocious, yet charming, seven-year old daughter, and caring for our seven fur-children - five delightful kitty cats, and two boisterous dogs. My hobbies include: Sims 2, music, theatre, Sims 2, and music theatre! (Check out some of my Sims 2 creations at ModTheSims2) For pictures of me in my all-time favorite role as May Henning in "The Affections of May" visit Amelia Community Theatre's web site. I also love to direct! I've directed everything from musical ensembles to theatrical plays. I am a percussionist, the Marimba is my main instrument, and together with my husband, perform on Steel Drums as "Steel Baroque."
